Triumph in Christ came into being as a result of the workplace Bible studies Rev. Janice Davis Steele began conducting in Washington, DC in 1996. Janice was working as a partner in a law firm when one day in June 1996, a client asked Janice if she would conduct a weekly Bible study at the client's office. That same day an employee at the law firm also asked Janice if she would conduct a weekly Bible study.  After much prayer, Janice launched out into holding lunchtime Bible studies.

The initial Bible study took place at the client's facility, then moved to the Agape Christian Bookstore in downtown, Washington, DC.  When the number of attendees exceeded the bookstore's capacity, the Bible study moved to the International Monetary Fund, the Potomac Electric Power Company, and the Martin Luther King Library in Washington, DC.

In 2001, the Lord led Janice to give subtance and form to the ministry.  As a result, the ministry incorporated as a non-profit Christian Ministry called Triumph in Christ.   That same year, the ministry began conducting Triumphant Living Seminars in the Washington metropolitan area.
